The Virginia Symphony Orchestra Presents: Women in Music
From November 16, 2017 until November 16, 2017
Thursday, November 16 at 7:30 PM
JoAnn Falletta, conductor
One of the leading conductors of her generation in a field historically dominated by men, Grammy-winning music director JoAnn Falletta explores the incredible contributions of women in music, both modern and throughout history. More recently, the shift toward the inclusion and recognition of women’s achievements in the fields of fine and performing arts offers a rich heritage for exploration and discussion. As one of the early champions of the cause of new music including pieces composed and popularized by women, JoAnn leads the Orchestra in a performance which will both entertain and inspire.
